this week, i had a huge writing project to complete at work. besides its daunting length, i was finding the topic's incredibly serious call to action beyond intimidating. every time i sat down to put pen to paper, my mind filled with self doubt and distractions. i wanted to make sure i did it justice. insert one of my worst vices: the innate ability to accomplish anything and everything other than the biggest priority at hand.
so after i completed all of my laundry, cleaned my apartment, unsubscribed from email newsletters (priorities!) and prepaid all my bills for next month, i decided to revamp my desk space to ignite much needed motivation. i figured by bringing in new desktop elements, new ideas would flow as well.
i gravitated toward a yellow theme (i wonder why!) and added some happy prints and a scribbled quote. i also converted used IZZE bottles into candles holders so i'd have some ambiance as i wrote into the late hours of night. when i finally sat down to actually write, i immediately kicked myself for not starting sooner (i always do this!) getting started really is the hardest part.
do you get writer's block? how do you overcome it?
